2015 Fair Demonstrations and recipes




SUNRISE SOAP RECIPE (YOU WILL LOVE IT!)
SUPPLIES: Eye Protection, Gloves, Scale, Mold, Stick Blender, Microwave, 2 Durable Bowls (non-metal), Wooden Spoons, and Thermometer.  ( Lye is super dangerous!)
BOWL #1LYE MIXTUREWearing Gloves and goggles(& under oven hood if possible) Mix 16 oz DISTILLED WATER & 6 oz LYE.  This part is pretty cool!
Let cool to ~ 98 degrees.  This takes about 45 min-1 hour.
BOWL#2OIL MIXTURE- Combine 12 oz OLIVE OIL, 12 oz COCONUT OIL, and 19 ozHYDROGENATED SOYBEAN OIL (regular cooking oil from Wal-Mart is Soybean Oil)
Melt together in microwave. Mix well! Oils also have to be ~98 degrees.
When both are cooled to ~ 98 degrees, mix together into one bowl & stir with stick blender until mixture starts to “TRACE”.  (Thick & creamy and can support a drop) 
FINALLY- ADD 1½ oz sweet orange oil, ½ oz ylang ylang essential oil & opt-1t. finely ground chamomile buds.  Use any oils you like…the sky is the limit!!
POUR INTO MOLD.  Wait 24 hours before cutting into bars.  Let cure 3 weeks before use.  



       

         SPUDNUT RECIPE


     Step #1
  • Scald 2 Cups Milk; add 1 cup Shortening,
melt and cool
  • Add 1 Cup sugar
Step #2
  • 2 Cups mashed potatoes (no extra butter or milk)
  • 3 Pkg Yeast dissolved in 1 Cup warm potato water
Add to liquid and mix well:
  • 4 Eggs
  • 1 tsp Soda
  • 1 tsp. Baking Powder
  • 1 tsp. Salt
  • 1 tsp. Vanilla
Add:
  • 12 Cups flour and mix well.
  • Let rise until double (1 1/2---2 hours)
  • Roll out to 1/2 “ thickness.  (May roll thinner if desired)
  • Cut with doughnut cutter and let raise again.
   Cook 3750 in shortening

    MAKES A LOT ! 

 I like to half the recipe and it works

just fine J



HEAVENLY ROLLS

6 cups flour
1/4 Sugar
1 Heaping Tablespoon Salt
2 Tablespoons Yeast
2 Cups very warm water (not so warm that you kill the yeast) can also use milk
1/2 cup oil of any kind (I use Olive Oil)
*Mix, knead and let rise to double. Shape, and let rise. Bake at 375 degrees for 20-25 minutes
